2026 NSW Mining HSEC Conference and Awards: What Contractors Need to Know

The Health, Safety, Environment & Community (HSEC) Conference is NSW Mining's flagship annual event, run by the NSW Minerals Council. In 2026 it brings mine operators, contractors, safety leaders, environmental specialists and community engagement teams together over two days to share innovation, lessons learned and best practice across the state's mining sector. The 2026 theme is Learning & Leading.

The 2026 conference runs 3–4 August 2026 at Rydges Resort Hunter Valley, with associated NSW Mining HSEC Awards and NSW Women in Mining Awards run alongside the program. The Hunter Valley location keeps the event close to Newcastle, the Upper Hunter coal region and Sydney — a two-hour drive for most NSW-based operators and contractors.

Expect keynotes on productivity, workplace culture and safety leadership, plus dedicated streams on operational safety, workforce well-being, environmental stewardship and community engagement. Sessions typically cover critical control management, psychosocial hazards, tailings and rehabilitation, First Nations engagement, and lessons from serious incidents. The HSEC Awards gala on night one recognises the best safety, environment, community and innovation projects across NSW.

The HSEC Awards recognise outstanding programs and projects across four pillars — Safety and Health, Environmental Excellence, Community Excellence, and Operational Innovation. Winners are announced at the awards dinner during the conference. Entries opened earlier in 2026 via the NSW Minerals Council, and finalists span major operators, mid-tier miners and their contractor partners.

This is a high-value event for contractor leaders working with NSW operators (Glencore, BHP, Yancoal, Whitehaven, Peabody, Centennial, MACH Energy, Bloomfield and others).
