Mine Electrical Safety Conference WA 2026: Dates, Program and What Electrical Contractors Need to Know

The Mine Electrical Safety Conference Western Australia (MESC WA) is the annual technical conference of the Mine Electrical Safety Association Inc Western Australia (MESA WA Inc). It brings together government departments, consultants, suppliers and industry decision makers in the electrical field for technical presentations on all matters relating to electrical safety in mining, with a specific focus on the Western Australian industry. MESA has run mine electrical safety conferences since 1989, with a companion Queensland event (MESC QLD) held in Brisbane.

Mining electrical risk used to be a fairly stable problem: HV reticulation, isolation discipline, and hazardous-area equipment. Electrification has changed the risk profile faster than most sites' procedures have kept up. Battery-electric haul trucks, megawatt-scale fast charging, solar and BESS hybrids, and trolley-assist infrastructure introduce stored energy, DC hazards and thermal runaway scenarios that traditional mine electrical procedures were never written for.
