Is there a MYOB timesheet app?
Yes — it is called MYOB Team. It is MYOB's employee self-service mobile app for rosters, clock-on and clock-off, timesheet submission, leave and payslips. Managers approve hours in the app or the MYOB Team admin portal, and approved hours flow into the MYOB pay run.
- Best for: small businesses already on MYOB payroll with shift-based staff at fixed locations.
- Where it stops: job costing, cost codes, plant hours, ticket and induction gating, client-verified dockets and turning hours into invoices or progress claims.
- Better fit for contractors: SprintSuite captures time once against the job, enforces site compliance, costs the work live, and produces both the claim and the payroll hours — built for Australian mining, engineering and heavy-industry contractors.
What is MYOB Team?
MYOB Team is the app that sits in front of MYOB Business payroll. Employees use it on their own phone, or on a shared device set up at a location, to clock on and off and submit their hours. Approving managers review and approve those hours, and the approved timesheets feed the pay run instead of someone typing a paper sheet into payroll on Friday afternoon.
It also handles the surrounding employee admin — rosters and upcoming shifts, leave requests, payslip access, and new-starter onboarding details flowing back into MYOB. You can read the current feature set and setup steps on MYOB's own MYOB Team page and its getting started support guide . What MYOB Team does well
Where a payroll timesheet app stops
None of the following is a flaw in MYOB Team — it is simply a different problem. A payroll timesheet app answers "what do we pay?". Contractors also have to answer "what did that job cost, what can we bill, and was that worker even allowed on site?".
Payroll is the destination, not job cost
MYOB Team exists to get accurate hours into the pay run. It is not built to allocate every hour to a job, task, cost code, asset or client and report margin on that job.
Locations, not jobs
Time is organised around locations and shifts. Contracting crews move between multiple jobs, shutdowns and clients in a single day, and each of those movements needs its own cost allocation.
No ticket or induction gating
A timesheet app does not know whether a worker's HV authorisation, site induction or medical has expired. Nothing stops an uncompliant worker being rostered and clocking on.
No plant or equipment hours
Excavator, EWP, crane, welder and test-set hours are a real cost and often a billable line. They do not belong in a payroll timesheet app.
No client-verified hours or dockets
Mine sites and Tier-1 principals commonly want signed dockets before they pay. Approval for payroll is not the same record as sign-off for invoicing.
No path to the invoice
Once hours are approved for pay, the billing question starts again in a spreadsheet: which hours were billable, at what rate, against which purchase order.
MYOB Team vs the SprintSuite app
| Capability | MYOB Team | SprintSuite |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A self-service employee app for rosters, timesheets, leave and payslips | A contractor operations platform where time, jobs, compliance and costing share one record |
| Primary job it does | Get accurate hours into the MYOB pay run | Cost the job, invoice the client and pay the crew from one capture |
| Time is captured against | Shift and location | Job, task, cost code, asset and client |
| Clock-on method | Mobile app, or a shared device kiosk at a location | Mobile (including offline), workshop kiosk, or supervisor entry for a crew |
| Compliance | Payroll record keeping and approvals | Tickets, licences, medicals and inductions gate who can be scheduled and clock on |
| Plant and equipment hours | Not a focus | Captured on the same job record as the crew |
| Job costing | Handled outside the app, in accounting or spreadsheets | Live budget vs actual labour, plant, materials and subcontract per job |
| Invoicing and claims | Invoices raised separately in MYOB | Approved hours become invoices, T&M claims or progress claims |
| Rosters | Shift rosters by location | Swing rosters, crew allocation to jobs, travel days and shutdown resourcing |
| Best suited to | Small businesses on MYOB with shift-based staff in fixed locations | Mining, engineering and heavy-industry contractors running crews across sites |

When the SprintSuite app is the right choice
When MYOB Team is enough
Being honest about this matters. If the following describes your business, MYOB Team will do the job and a contractor platform is more than you need today.
What mining and heavy industry actually demands
Offline clock-on
Time, breaks, job allocation and photos capture on the device and sync when coverage returns. A cloud-only timesheet app is unusable at the bottom of a pit.
Compliance that blocks, not warns
Expired HV authorisation, confined space ticket, site induction or medical prevents scheduling and clock-on — not an email nobody opens.
Award interpretation on real rosters
Penalties, allowances, RDOs, night shift and travel calculated on swing patterns, then exported to payroll without a manual rebuild.
One number for pay and billing
The hour a worker clocked is the hour you cost, the hour you claim and the hour you pay. No reconciliation meeting.
Keeping MYOB as your ledger
Switching timesheets does not mean switching accountants. Plenty of contractors keep MYOB or Xero as the financial ledger and run operations — jobs, crews, compliance, timesheets, costing and claims — in SprintSuite, with hours and invoices flowing through to finance. See how that works on our MYOB EXO alternative and Xero integration pages.
Compliance behind every timesheet
Whatever you use, the obligations are the same. Record-keeping and award entitlements are set out by the Fair Work Ombudsman , reporting by ATO Single Touch Payroll , and fatigue and shift risk by Safe Work Australia .
