Saraji Mine, Dysart QLD: BMA Site, Camp and Contractor Access

Saraji is around 30km south-east of Dysart, QLD, in the central Bowen Basin. It sits in the Isaac Regional Council area and is reached via the Peak Downs Highway and Saraji Mine Road.

Saraji is owned and operated by BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA), the 50/50 JV between BHP and Mitsubishi Development. It's one of BMA's core Bowen Basin metallurgical coal mines, alongside Peak Downs, Goonyella Riverside, Broadmeadow, Caval Ridge, Daunia and Blackwater.

Saraji produces hard coking coal for blast-furnace steelmaking. Coal is processed on-site at the CHPP and railed via the Goonyella rail system to Hay Point Coal Terminal.

Saraji Village is the on-site accommodation camp, with additional workers based in Dysart. Many contractors also DIDO from Moranbah and Mackay. BMA operates transport to and from camps and the pit.

Contractors need BMA prequalification (Avetta + BMA-specific onboarding), BMA generic and Saraji site-specific inductions, current standard 11, coal board medical and role-relevant tickets. Access is via a controlled gatehouse with strict fitness-for-work and drug and alcohol testing.

Regular contractor scopes include HME maintenance and component change-outs, dragline shuts, drill and blast, tyres, CHPP maintenance, civil earthworks, environmental works and specialist shutdown campaigns. OEM support from Komatsu and Hastings Deering is embedded on-site.
