Glencore Mine Sites in QLD: Locations, Contacts and Contractor Access

Oaky Creek is a large metallurgical coal operation south-west of Tieri, comprising underground longwall (Oaky North) and open-cut components. It's one of Glencore's flagship met-coal mines and a major employer for contractors across longwall moves, development, maintenance and shutdowns.

Collinsville Coal (near the township of Collinsville) and Newlands Coal (near Glenden) are Glencore-operated thermal coal mines in the northern Bowen Basin. Both use large contractor bases for mobile plant maintenance, wash-plant support and shutdown campaigns.

Rolleston is a large open-cut thermal coal mine near the township of Rolleston, west of Springsure. It operates one of the largest draglines in the region and is a consistent user of specialist mining and civil contractors.

Clermont, near the town of Clermont, is a large open-cut thermal coal operation Glencore holds an interest in through joint venture. Contractor scope covers overburden removal, dragline maintenance, mobile plant and rail-loadout works.

Mount Isa Mines is Glencore's integrated copper, zinc and lead operation in Mount Isa. It combines underground mining, concentrators and smelting. Note that Glencore has announced plans to close the copper mining operations at Mount Isa — check the current status before pursuing new work.

Ernest Henry is a copper-gold underground operation north-east of Cloncurry. Glencore acquired 100% ownership from Evolution Mining. The mine is a strategic feedstock source for the Mount Isa concentrator.

Every site requires the Glencore generic induction plus the specific site induction for the operation you're accessing. You'll also need current tickets (Standard 11, S123, high-risk work licences), a current medical, and prequalification through the site's chosen contractor compliance system. Access is typically managed via a Site Access Centre or MIA (Mine Industry Access) point.
