How to Work with Glencore as a Contractor: Inductions, Apprenticeships & Vendor Onboarding

Start by registering your business on Glencore's supplier portal. You'll provide company details, insurances (public liability, workers comp, professional indemnity where relevant), safety management system documentation and financial information. Get your ABN, GST, insurance certificates and safety policies ready before you begin.

Most Glencore sites use Avetta, Rapid Global, Cm3 or Pegasus for ongoing contractor compliance. You'll upload the same insurance and safety documentation, plus site-specific requirements — and keep it current. Lapsed compliance = no access, even mid-shutdown.

The Glencore generic induction is an online module covering core company safety expectations, values and reporting protocols. It's a prerequisite for every site-specific induction, so complete it early — ideally before a job is even confirmed.

Every operation (Oaky Creek, Collinsville, Newlands, Rolleston, Mount Isa, Ernest Henry etc.) has its own site-specific induction covering site rules, hazards, transport, emergency response and traffic management plans. These are typically completed at the Site Access Centre or online prior to arrival.

Glencore runs national apprenticeship and graduate programs across engineering, trades, metallurgy, mining and business. Applications typically open early each year via glencore.com/careers. Contractors employing apprentices should confirm the sponsoring arrangements and any host-employer requirements for placements at Glencore sites.

Once inducted, access is booked through the site's access centre or MIA. Keep training records, medicals, insurances and VOCs current — a lapsed medical or expired ticket at 5am on Monday morning is a lost day of billable work.
