NT Resources Week 2026: What Mining and Energy Contractors Need to Know

NT Resources Week is northern Australia's largest resources and construction industry event, run by Informa. It bundles three conferences plus a major exhibition into one all-access pass, covering oil and gas, mining, and new energy. If you service assets anywhere between Darwin, the Beetaloo, the Barkly and the Top End, this is the week the Territory's operators, government and supply chain are all in one building.

NT Resources Week 2026 runs Wednesday 2 – Thursday 3 September 2026 at the Darwin Convention Centre, Stokes Hill Road, Darwin Waterfront Precinct. September sits squarely in the dry season — warm days, low humidity by Darwin standards, and the busiest window of the year for flights and accommodation.

SEAAOC is the long-running South East Asia Australia Offshore & Onshore Conference — the must-attend event for the oil and gas sector, its suppliers and service providers, covering both onshore and offshore developments. Mining the Territory is northern Australia's leading mining conference, running from exploration and resource development through to operations, markets and logistics. The third stream is the new energy briefing, covering renewables build-out, industry decarbonisation and the emerging data centre and AI infrastructure opportunity in the North. One pass gets you into all three.

Expect 800+ industry professionals and 90+ speakers across energy, gas, mining and services. That means operators and developers, NT Government ministers and departmental heads, regulators, the Port of Darwin and Middle Arm proponents, engineering firms, OEMs, drilling and civil contractors, logistics providers and the labour-hire and maintenance base that keeps Territory projects moving. There is also a well-attended gala dinner.

Three themes dominate. First, the Beetaloo Basin and its imminent first gas production, plus the pipeline and processing infrastructure that follows. Second, the Middle Arm Sustainable Development Precinct and the Territory Energy Link — multi-year construction programs with long contractor tails. Third, critical minerals and renewables, from new mines and processing to solar and transmission. Data centres are the newest addition to the program.

The Territory market is small enough that relationships decide who gets the call, and big enough that a single precinct or basin program can carry a contractor for years. NT Resources Week is where scopes get talked about before the RFT lands. If you want a share of Beetaloo, Middle Arm or Territory critical minerals work, being visible — as a delegate, sponsor or exhibitor — is cheap compared with cold-calling procurement later.

Build a target list before you fly in: the five operators and three head contractors you actually want a conversation with, and what you would say to each. Know your capability by asset type — wellsite, pipeline, processing, open cut, civil, electrical. Bring numbers rather than slogans: TRIFR, on-time delivery, mobilisation lead time, tenure with existing clients. Then come with proof that your systems can produce live evidence of training, tickets, medicals and inductions on request.

Ask vendors: can you show me a live training and competency matrix for a 60-person crew right now? How do you handle remote sites with no coverage? Can a supervisor raise a variation from the field and have it hit an invoice? What does your system produce when a Tier-1 client audits us at 24 hours' notice? How long is real implementation — not the demo? If the answers are vague, keep walking.

Darwin Airport is roughly 15 minutes from the Waterfront Precinct. September is peak dry-season tourism as well as conference season, so book flights and rooms early — Waterfront, Esplanade and CBD hotels are all within walking distance of the Convention Centre. Budget for evening functions: much of the value of the week happens after the sessions end.

QME in Mackay is coal and heavy engineering, machinery-led, and the best floor in the country for OEMs and parts. Diggers & Dealers in Kalgoorlie is investor and gold-heavy. NT Resources Week is different again — it is oil and gas plus mining plus new energy, with unusually direct access to government and project proponents.
